Marianne, 18, Oslo: My rants and thoughts on the books I read, the films I watch and the life I'm taking a shot at.

Research paper: Pop art

Anybody have a good idea for a thesis question about pop art?

I have to write a ten-page paper and have an oral presentation…

I have absolutely no clue what I should focus on, but I’m thinking about narrowing it down to focus on Warhol or maybe Pushwagner.

Please heeelp?

The Fault in Our Stars

Finished.

I was planning on writing a long, thoughtful analysis about how I felt all the things (no all caps this time, the book is too good for that), but it’s just too soon.

"I didn’t tell him that the diagnosis came three months after I got my first period. Like: Congratulations! You’re a woman. Now die."

The Fault in Our Stars

Have read approx. 100 pages of TFiOS now, and I have to say it is probably the most quotable book in the history of literature.

I mean, c’mon, it uses words like “cancertastic” and phrases like “cute but unspectacular mary janes”! I think that John Green must have been inside of my head on several occasions…

On to read more and FEEL ALL THE THINGS. I have already FELT MOST OF THE THINGS, so I’m looking forward to reading more!

The Catcher in the Rye

Finished it… Again.

And now we’re discussing what Holden’s problems really are. Aaand, I seem to be the only one who thinks that Holden isn’t really mentally sick, but that we are all emotionally unstable sometimes, we just don’t like admitting it.

Also, my teacher is apparently surprised at the fact that almost every person in this class identifies with some part of Holden.

Gag, this book is so good. Writing an essay on it tomorrow and then I can read The Fault in Our Stars and FEEL ALL THE THINGS.

The Great Gatsby

Ok, so I finished it on thursday but whatever.

I loved it. I really did, even though I hated Gatsby towards the end, he started up mysterious and heart-warming but then ended up an utter douche bag.

And I get why he acted that way, I mean, it’s love and it’s devastating and it’ll fuck you up beyond recognition and you won’t be you anymore, but is that an excuse for his behavior?

I don’t really think so… Great book though ;)

Oh and also I managed to get through the book without so much as a sliver of a spoiler, so I’m mostly just proud of myself for staying out of wikipedia…

Jan 20th 2012

I got treated like actual shit today.

I also might’ve gotten a head concussion.

So, you know… Great day.

Jan 19th 2012

I have nothing to write about.

Except that I got my new curling wand from Cloud Nine AND I LOVE IT!

Jan 16th 2012

I have to read 12 chapters of the Catcher in the Rye tonight. Can’t get to bed.

Procrastinating: I’m doing it right.
